Birmingham City boss temporarily steps away

Tony Mowbray has temporarily stepped down as Birmingham City manager to receive medical treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

Mowbray stated that he was told he needed therapy after completing a recent health assessment.


In a statement, the club confirmed Mowbray's departure "for a period of approximately six to eight weeks".

The 60-year-old is only in his second month in command of the Blues, having taken over from Wayne Rooney on January 8.
