Burnley Extends Unbeaten Streak with Watford Victory

Burnley defeated Watford 2-1, extending their unbeaten EFL Championship run to 30 games, with key contributions from Brownhill and Flemming.

Burnley secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over Watford on April 18, 2025, at Vicarage Road, further solidifying their position at the top of the English EFL Championship. The match began with Watford taking an early lead in the 8th minute, thanks to a powerful header from Mamadou Doumbia off a swerving cross from Rocco Vata. Despite dominating the early exchanges and creating several chances, Watford couldn`t capitalize on their advantage.

Just before halftime, Burnley equalized with a diving header from Zian Flemming in the 43rd minute, shifting the momentum in their favor. The second half saw Josh Brownhill score the decisive goal with a close-range header in the 58th minute, sealing the win for Burnley. Watford`s woes were compounded by disciplinary issues, as Moussa Sissoko received a red card in the 60th minute, followed by Edo Kayembe`s dismissal in the 69th minute, leaving Watford with only nine players.

Under the management of Scott Parker, Burnley has now extended their unbeaten run to 30 games, making them only the second team in Championship history to achieve such a feat. With 91 points from 43 games, they are three points clear of second-placed Leeds United, while Watford sits in 12th place with 56 points. Key performances from Brownhill, Flemming, and Doumbia highlighted the match`s intensity.

English EFL Championship standings show Burnley in a strong position as they aim for Premier League promotion.
