Brisbane Roar Ends Home Drought with Win Over Western

Brisbane Roar`s 2-1 victory over Western United featured goals from Klein and Berenguer, ending a home win drought.

Brisbane Roar secured a thrilling 2-1 victory against Western United in the Isuzu UTE A-League Men Round 27 match on Thursday, 17 April 2025, at Suncorp Stadium. This win marked a significant milestone for the Roar, breaking a 13-month home win drought.

Sam Klein opened the scoring early in the 2nd minute with a precise first-time finish, assisted brilliantly by Jacob Brazete. Florin Berenguer doubled the lead in the 24th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error to net his first goal of the season. Just before halftime, Western United`s Hiroshi Ibusuki pulled one back, slipping behind the Roar defense to slide the ball into the bottom corner, making it 2-1 at the break.

Despite both teams` efforts in the second half, the score remained unchanged, allowing Brisbane Roar to secure the crucial three points. This victory propelled Brisbane Roar above Perth Glory into 12th place in the league standings. Additionally, Jack Hingert made his 273rd A-League appearance for Brisbane Roar, marking his 300th game in the competition overall. Ben Halloran also reached a milestone, playing his 200th A-League game off the bench. Brisbane Roar now turns its focus to the upcoming match against Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium.
