Brisbane Roar`s Heartbreak in A-League Women Drama

Brisbane Roar`s 4-4 draw against Western Sydney ends their finals hopes, while Canberra United secures a top-six finish.

Brisbane Roar faced a stunning exit from the finals race after a thrilling 4-4 draw against Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 22 of the A-League Women. Tameka Yallop showcased her talent by scoring a remarkable hat-trick for Brisbane, but it ultimately wasn`t enough to secure their place in the finals.

Canberra United played a crucial role in the finals landscape by defeating Wellington Phoenix 1-0, effectively extinguishing Wellington`s hopes and securing their own spot in the top six. Meanwhile, Central Coast Mariners confirmed their finals berth despite a narrow 1-0 loss to Melbourne Victory, thanks to the dramatic draw between Brisbane and Western Sydney. The Mariners are now aiming for a fourth-place finish to host an Elimination Final.

Melbourne City continues to lead the league with 52 points, closely followed by Melbourne Victory at 50 points. Adelaide United sits in third with 42 points, while Western United holds fourth place with 32 points. Central Coast Mariners are currently fifth with 31 points. Standout players for the Mariners include Sarah Langman, Jessika Nash, Taylor Ray, Annalise Rasmussen, and Tiana Fuller. Izzy Gomez has also made headlines, winning the PFA March Player of the Month award.

The finals schedule is set, with Elimination Finals taking place from April 25-27, Semi-Finals from May 2-4 and May 9-11, culminating in the Grand Final on May 17/18.
