Melbourne City`s Unbeaten Streak Continues in A-League

Melbourne City and Victory secure crucial wins in A-League Women, with McNamara and Flannery shining in their matches.

Melbourne City maintained their dominance in the A-League Women with a narrow 1-0 victory over Wellington Phoenix, thanks to a first-half goal from Holly McNamara. This win extends City`s unbeaten run to 21 games in the league and 25 across all competitions, solidifying their position at the top of the table with 46 points. They are now two points clear of Melbourne Victory, who have a game in hand.

Melbourne Victory kept their title hopes alive with a dramatic 2-1 win against Adelaide United, where Nicki Flannery scored both goals, including a stoppage-time winner. This crucial victory places Victory firmly in contention for the premiership, leaving Adelaide in third place with 39 points.

In the Sydney Derby, Sydney FC triumphed over Western Sydney Wanderers with a 2-0 scoreline, eliminating the Wanderers from finals contention. Goals from Mackenzie Hawkesby and Indiana Dos Santos secured the win for Sydney FC. Meanwhile, Canberra United edged past Perth Glory 2-1, while Western United clinched a finals spot by defeating Newcastle Jets 2-0, with contributions from Catherine Zimmerman and Keiwa Hieda. The Central Coast Mariners also moved closer to finals qualification with a 2-1 victory over Brisbane Roar, overcoming an early setback.
