The 2025 MLS season begins with Canadian teams aiming for success, featuring coaching changes and playoff highlights.

The 2025 MLS season kicks off on February 22 for CF Montréal and Toronto FC, with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC starting their campaign on February 23. The Vancouver Whitecaps had a strong showing in the 2024 season, finishing with a 13-13-8 record, earning 47 points and a +3 goal differential. They made headlines in the playoffs by defeating Los Angeles FC 3-0 at BC Place, although they were ultimately eliminated.

CF Montréal ended the previous season with a record of 11-13-10 and 43 points, while Toronto FC struggled, finishing with a 11-19-4 record and 37 points. Coaching changes have reshaped the teams, with Robin Fraser taking the helm at Toronto FC and Jesper Sorenson stepping in at Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Laurent Courtois continues as head coach of CF Montréal for his second season.

As the league expands to 30 clubs with the addition of San Diego FC, Canadian teams will be featured prominently on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV, along with select broadcasts on TSN and RDS. Analysts are already eyeing LAFC and Inter Miami CF as early favorites for the MLS Cup 2025, while teams like Columbus Crew and new signings in the Eastern Conference are also expected to make a significant impact.
