Santiago Buitrago of Bahrain Victorious showcased his climbing prowess by winning stage 2 of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, finishing atop the Alto de Partegat. Buitrago made a decisive move in the final kilometer, overtaking teammate Pello Bilbao, who finished eight seconds behind. João Almeida of UAE Team Emirates-XRG secured third place, crossing the line 13 seconds after Buitrago. Despite finishing 13th in this stage, Mathias Vacek of Lidl-Trek maintained his overall lead, just 57 seconds behind the stage winner.

In a significant shift for professional cycling, starting in 2025, all WorldTour bikes will be mandated to use disc brakes, phasing out rim brakes entirely. This decision comes as major manufacturers like Giant and Bianchi have already embraced disc brake technology in their latest models. Bianchi`s Aquila RC time trial bike will make its competitive debut with Arkéa-B&B Hotels at the Étoile de Bessèges, further emphasizing the trend towards disc brakes due to their superior performance in wet conditions.
