Vingegaard Eyes Tour and Vuelta Glory in 2025

Jonas Vingegaard has set his sights on reclaiming his dominance in cycling by targeting both the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España in 2025. After a mixed performance in the 2024 season, the two-time Tour de France champion is determined to return to his peak form. He will kick off his season at the Volta ao Algarve in mid-February, followed by key races such as Paris-Nice, the Volta a Catalunya, and the Critérium du Dauphiné, all serving as crucial preparation for the Tour de France.

Vingegaard's primary ambition is to secure his third Tour de France title, a race he holds in high regard, describing it as the one that `means the most` to him. He will be supported by a strong team, including Simon Yates, Matteo Jorgenson, and Wout van Aert. While Van Aert will focus on the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, he, along with Yates and Olav Kooij, will also compete in the Giro d'Italia for Visma-Lease a Bike.

The 2025 Tour de France promises to be challenging, featuring two time trials and six summit finishes. Vingegaard is expected to face fierce competition from Tadej Pogačar of UAE Team Emirates, who won the 2024 Tour de France with a significant lead. Pogačar is also contemplating participation in the Vuelta a España, which could lead to an exciting rivalry between the two elite riders in both Grand Tours.

By opting to skip the Giro d'Italia, Vingegaard is fully committed to excelling in the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España, where he aims to improve upon his second-place finish in the 2023 Vuelta. His motivation for the upcoming season is palpable, as he seeks victories in all his targeted races, including Paris-Nice and the Volta a Catalunya.
