The 2025 CrossFit Open is set to ignite excitement this week, with the first workout, 25.1, being unveiled at CrossFit Mayhem on February 27, 2025. Athletes from around the globe will compete in a series of challenging workouts over three weeks, marking the beginning of the CrossFit Games season.

Predictions for the opening workout are already buzzing within the community, with many speculating that burpees will feature prominently due to their accessibility for all fitness levels. There’s also talk of potential repeats from previous Opens, such as the grueling 20.1 or 22.2 workouts, which could test athletes` endurance and strength.

As the Open approaches, a surge in last-minute registrations is expected as competitors prepare to showcase their fitness against a global field. Meanwhile, the CrossFit Athlete Council (CAC) is addressing key issues raised in a community survey, focusing on athlete policies and safety measures that will shape the upcoming 2025 CrossFit Games.

However, not all affiliates are participating in the official Open. Some, like Fog City Community Fitness, are opting out due to disagreements with CrossFit HQ`s new gender classification policy, instead hosting their own in-house competition, the Fog City Open, during the same timeframe. This decision reflects ongoing discussions about inclusivity and competition policies within the CrossFit community.
