Sri Lanka`s dominant ODI series win over Australia highlights key performances and Kuhnemann`s bowling action controversy.

Sri Lanka showcased their cricketing prowess by clinching the ODI series against Australia with a commanding performance in the second ODI. Played on February 14, 2025, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka set a formidable target of 281 runs. Australia struggled in response, succumbing to Sri Lanka`s bowling attack and being bowled out in less than 25 overs, resulting in a massive victory.

Maheesh Theekshana was a standout performer, claiming four wickets, while Dunith Wellalage contributed significantly with his all-round abilities. This victory followed Sri Lanka`s 49-run win in the first ODI, where Wellalage`s contributions were pivotal in establishing Sri Lanka`s dominance in the series.

Adding to Australia`s woes, left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann has been reported for a suspect bowling action during the two-Test tour of Sri Lanka. Despite being the highest wicket-taker in the Test series, Kuhnemann will now focus on rectifying his bowling action as he prepares for scientific testing, with plans to return to cricket with Tasmania.

In domestic cricket, the Australia Domestic One-Day Cup 2024-25 is currently underway, featuring matches like Queensland vs New South Wales and South Australia vs Western Australia. The Sheffield Shield 2024-25 is also in progress, with Tasmania leading Victoria by 21 runs and New South Wales trailing Queensland by 150 runs in their respective matches.
