South Australia Crushes WA with McAndrew`s Magic

South Australia triumphed over Western Australia, led by Nathan McAndrew`s 7-11, while NSW and Victoria also showcased strong performances.

South Australia delivered a stunning performance in the Sheffield Shield, defeating defending champions Western Australia by six wickets at the WACA Ground. Paceman Nathan McAndrew was the star of the match, claiming an extraordinary 7-11, leading his team to victory in just four-and-a-half sessions. The match was a rollercoaster, with 20 wickets falling on the opening day. Western Australia was bowled out for 120, while South Australia managed 124. On day two, Western Australia crumbled to 66, setting a meager target of 63, which South Australia chased down before tea.

In another thrilling encounter, New South Wales staged a remarkable comeback against Queensland at the Gabba. After a shaky start at 5-39, Jack Edwards played a pivotal role with an unbeaten 104 off 132 balls, supported by Matthew Gilkes` 66. NSW ended the day at 7-237, trailing Queensland`s first innings total of 387. Queensland`s Jack Clayton fell early, while Michael Neser contributed 43 runs. Liam Hatcher`s 4-92 helped NSW stay in contention as they look to close the gap.

Victoria also made strides in the competition, with debutant Harry Dixon scoring a vital 66 against Tasmania at Bellerive Oval. His innings helped Victoria secure a first-innings lead, although Tasmania ended the day with a slight advantage at 1-43. The current Sheffield Shield standings see South Australia leading with 29.93 points, followed closely by Victoria at 28.06 points.
