India Triumphs Over England in First ODI

India defeated England by 4 wickets in the first ODI, with Shubman Gill shining with 87 runs.

India showcased a dominant performance in the first ODI against England, securing a convincing victory by 4 wickets in Nagpur on February 7, 2025. England batted first, managing to score 248 runs before being bowled out in 47.4 overs. Jos Buttler led the charge for England with a solid 52 runs off 67 balls, while Jacob Bethell contributed 51 runs off 64 balls.

India`s bowlers were exceptional, with Ravindra Jadeja claiming 3 wickets for just 26 runs in 9 overs, and Harshit Rana also taking 3 wickets, conceding 53 runs in 7 overs. Chasing a target of 249 runs, India reached the finish line in just 38.4 overs, thanks to a stellar innings from Shubman Gill, who scored 87 runs off 96 balls. Shreyas Iyer made a significant impact with a rapid 59 runs off 36 balls, including two sixes and nine fours, after being a last-minute inclusion due to Virat Kohli`s knee injury.
