Annabel Sutherland Wins Belinda Clark Award

Annabel Sutherland wins the Belinda Clark Award, while Ellyse Perry and Jess Jonassen tie for WBBL Player of the Tournament.

Annabel Sutherland has made history by winning her first Belinda Clark Award, recognizing her as the Australian women`s cricketer of the year. Her remarkable performance included a stunning Test century of 163 at the MCG, making her the first woman to achieve this milestone at the iconic venue. Sutherland`s journey to this accolade began with an impressive 210 runs in the Perth Test against South Africa, showcasing her exceptional talent and consistency.

Reflecting on the Australian women`s team`s recent T20 World Cup semi-final loss to South Africa, Sutherland acknowledged the disappointment but praised her teammates for their resilience and character in bouncing back. The team recently demonstrated their dominance by winning the Ashes series in a whitewash, further solidifying their status in women`s cricket.

In other notable achievements, Ellyse Perry and Jess Jonassen were jointly awarded the Weber WBBL Player of the Tournament for WBBL|10, marking a historic tie with both players receiving 25 votes. Perry, captain of the Sydney Sixers, excelled as the leading batter with 424 runs, while Jonassen, captain of the Brisbane Heat, contributed significantly with 17 wickets and 218 runs, guiding her team to the final.

Travis Head was also recognized during the Australian cricket awards night, winning the men`s Allan Border Medal while representing the Test team in Sri Lanka. This event highlighted the achievements of Australian cricket across both men`s and women`s formats, celebrating the talents and contributions of its players.
