Sydney Thunder defeated Sydney Sixers to reach the BBL|14 Final, ending a six-game losing streak.

Sydney Thunder made history by defeating Sydney Sixers in the BBL|14 Challenger, marking their first Big Bash Final appearance in nine years. The match, held at the SCG, saw the Thunder restrict the Sixers to a total of 151 runs, successfully chasing down the target with six balls to spare, winning by four wickets. This victory also ended a six-game losing streak against the Sixers, with their last win dating back to January 2021.

The Sixers struggled early in their innings, losing openers Kurtis Patterson and Jack Edwards cheaply. Despite missing key players like Steve Smith and James Vince, Jordan Silk and Ben Dwarshuis provided a late surge, contributing 49 runs in the final four overs to help set a competitive total.

For the Thunder, Jason Sangha and David Warner laid a solid foundation for the chase, while Sam Billings and Nathan McAndrew played crucial roles in securing the win. The Thunder`s resurgence is particularly notable, considering they managed only one win in the previous season.

The match attracted a crowd of 32,107 fans, underscoring the significance of this Sydney Smash rivalry. The Thunder will now face the Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL|14 Final on Monday at Ninja Stadium, where the Hurricanes have been in excellent form, winning eight of their last nine matches.
