RCB Ends 17-Year Chepauk Drought Against CSK

RCB`s 50-run victory over CSK at Chepauk ends a 17-year drought, with Patidar and Hazlewood shining.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RC triumphed over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 50 runs, marking a historic end to their 17-year winless streak at Chepauk. RCB set a formidable target of 196/7, propelled by Rajat Patidar`s impressive 51 runs off 32 balls and Tim David`s late flourish of 22 not out off just 8 deliveries.

In response, CSK struggled significantly, managing only 146/8 in their chase. Despite a valiant effort from MS Dhoni, who scored an unbeaten 30 off 16 balls, the team fell short. The decision to bat Dhoni at number 9 drew criticism from former cricketer Manoj Tiwary, who argued it reflected a lack of courage from the CSK coaching staff. Conversely, Virender Sehwag defended the strategy, citing Dhoni`s consistent batting position throughout his career. Ambati Rayudu also expressed concerns about CSK`s batting depth, suggesting that changes are necessary for the team to remain competitive.

RCB`s bowlers were instrumental in the victory, with Josh Hazlewood leading the charge, claiming 3 wickets for just 21 runs. This win not only boosts RCB`s morale but also signifies a pivotal moment in their quest for IPL glory.
