Atalanta`s Mateo Retegui Shines Ahead of Knockout Phase

UEFA Champions League knockout phase approaches with standout performances from Mateo Retegui and Harry Kane.

The UEFA Champions League is gearing up for an exhilarating knockout phase, with 24 teams battling for a spot in the final set for May 31, 2025, in Munich. The play-offs commence on February 11 and 12, featuring crucial matchups such as Atalanta against Club Brugge, Bayern München facing Celtic, and Benfica clashing with Monaco.

In recent action, Arsenal continued their impressive form with a 2-1 victory over Girona, marking their fifth consecutive unbeaten match (W4 D1). Aston Villa showcased their home strength by defeating Celtic 4-2, maintaining a solid record with only two losses in 18 home games this season. Atalanta`s Mateo Retegui has been in sensational form, scoring five goals in his last five matches, including a thrilling 2-2 draw against Barcelona.

Atlético de Madrid also displayed their dominance, winning 4-1 against Salzburg, while Barcelona`s Robert Lewandowski added to his tally, netting 29 goals in 31 games this season. Bayern München triumphed over Slovan Bratislava with a 3-1 scoreline, as Harry Kane continued to impress with 68 goals in 71 appearances for the club.

Benfica secured a 2-0 win against Juventus, although they have faced challenges in the First Division recently. Celtic, despite their loss to Aston Villa, have only two defeats in their last 26 matches across all competitions. Club Brugge, after a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City, had previously enjoyed an unbeaten streak of 20 matches (W15 D5).

Dortmund ended a five-match winless streak with a 3-1 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk, while Feyenoord suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat to Lille, marking one of their six losses this season. Inter Milan maintained their strong form with a 3-0 win against Monaco, and Leverkusen continued their solid run with a 2-0 victory over Sparta Praha. Liverpool faced a setback, losing 3-2 to PSV, marking their second loss in 31 matches.
