Angel Reese Shines in Unrivaled League Debut

Angel Reese excelled in her Unrivaled League debut, showcasing her talent despite a loss for Rose Basketball Club.

Angel Reese made a significant impact in her debut for Rose Basketball Club during the inaugural Unrivaled Basketball League, a 3-on-3 tournament showcasing top WNBA talent. Despite a narrow loss to Vinyl Basketball Club, Reese recorded an impressive double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists. Her shooting performance included a 3-7 from the field and a perfect showing at the free-throw line.

The game featured standout performances from other WNBA stars, including Dearica Hamby and Arike Ogunbowale, who played pivotal roles for Vinyl Basketball Club. Hamby clinched the victory with a transition layup assisted by Ogunbowale, while Rhyne Howard led all scorers with 33 points, shooting 6-12 from beyond the arc, along with six rebounds, two blocks, and one steal.

Reese`s performance is particularly noteworthy as she returns from an injury that cut her rookie season short. She will continue to compete for Rose Basketball Club, which also includes notable players like Chelsea Gray, Kahleah Cooper, and Lexie Hull. The Unrivaled tournament, founded by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, features a fast-paced format with smaller courts and shorter quarters, taking place over eight weeks in Miami, Florida. Games are broadcast on TNT, truTV, and available for streaming on DirecTV, Sling, and Max.

In other WNBA news, the league is adapting to increased ticket demand by relocating games to larger arenas. The Washington Mystics and Las Vegas Aces have moved their home games against the Indiana Fever to venues like Capital One Arena and T-Mobile Arena to accommodate the growing interest, especially surrounding star player Caitlin Clark.
