Spartans Edge Terps with Buzzer-Beater by Jase Richardson

Michigan State`s Jase Richardson leads a buzzer-beater win over Maryland, while Vanderbilt upsets Texas A&M in college basketball.

No. 8 Michigan State clinched a thrilling 69-67 victory over No. 16 Maryland at the Xfinity Center, thanks to a buzzer-beater from Jase Richardson. This win extends the Spartans` winning streak against the Terrapins to seven games, solidifying their position at the top of the Big Ten standings with a record of 23-5 and 14-3 in conference play.

In a defensive showdown, Michigan State managed to hold Maryland, the Big Ten`s highest-scoring team, to just 55 points—14 points below their previous season-low. Richardson led the Spartans with 15 points, marking him as the only player to reach double figures in a tightly contested game.

Meanwhile, in another upset, Vanderbilt defeated No. 12 Texas A&M 86-84, marking the Aggies` third consecutive loss. Tyler Nickel shone for the Commodores with 21 points, including an impressive 7-10 from beyond the arc. Texas A&M`s Pharrel Payne and Wade Taylor IV combined for 44 points, but it wasn`t enough to overcome a 12-point deficit in the first half.

Looking ahead, No. 13 Michigan will host Rutgers, favored by 10.5 points, while No. 20 Saint Mary`s faces Loyola Marymount, with the Gaels favored by 13.5 points. For more on college basketball, visit NCAAB and college basketball.
