India Falls to Japan in Badminton Asia Mixed Team Champs

India`s badminton team faced a tough defeat against Japan in the quarterfinals of the championships.

India`s journey in the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2025 came to a disappointing end as they suffered a 0-3 defeat against Japan in the quarterfinals. The tie commenced with a mixed doubles showdown where India`s Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto battled Hiroki Midorikawa and Natsu Saito. Despite a valiant effort, the Indian pair lost the match after a hard-fought 61 minutes, with scores of 21-13, 17-21, 21-13.

Following the mixed doubles, Malvika Bansod faced Tomoka Miyazaki in women`s singles but fell short, losing 12-21, 19-21. HS Prannoy, competing in men`s singles, showcased resilience by rallying back after losing the first game but ultimately succumbed to Kenta Nishimoto in a gripping 77-minute contest, finishing with scores of 14-21, 21-15, 12-21.

Japan`s victory propels them into the semifinals, where they will meet the winner of the tie between China and Hong Kong. In other matches, China secured their semifinal spot after defeating Hong Kong, with Tang Chun Man and Ng Tsz Yau winning the mixed doubles and Chen Yu Fei dominating in women`s singles. The competition is taking place at the Qingdao Conson Sports Centre from February 11 to 16, 2025, featuring intense matches across various categories.
