China aims for its 14th Sudirman Cup title with Shi Yuqi and Chen Yufei leading a strong team.

China is set to defend its title at the Sudirman Cup 2025, a prestigious international mixed team badminton tournament taking place in Xiamen, Fujian Province. The competition kicked off on April 27, featuring 16 teams competing in men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events. With a strong roster, China aims to secure a record-extending 14th crown.

Leading the charge for China is Olympic champion Shi Yuqi, ranked world No. 1 in men’s singles. In women’s singles, Chen Yufei, another Olympic champion, is a key player, while the women’s doubles team of Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan is also a formidable force. The mixed doubles team, featuring Huang Dongping, adds to China’s depth. Rising stars like Wang Zhiyi, Jiang Zhenbang, and Wei Yaxin further bolster the squad.

In the group stage, China is positioned in Group A alongside Thailand, Hong Kong, and Algeria. The top two teams from each of the four pools will advance to the knockout stage, which promises to be thrilling. The Sudirman Cup will run until May 4, with matches live-streamed in various countries, including India, where PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen lead the Indian challenge.
