Odeluga and Robinson-O`Hagan Shine for Ole Miss

Ole Miss track and field athletes have recently showcased their exceptional talent, earning accolades in their respective events. Junior Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan and sophomore Akaoma Odeluga have both been recognized with SEC weekly honors, highlighting their impressive performances at the Rod McCravy Invitational in Kentucky.

Akaoma Odeluga made headlines by setting the current world lead in the women's shot put for 2025. She achieved a remarkable throw of 18.37m (60-03.25), which not only secured her victory at the invitational but also ranks third in Ole Miss history indoors and places her at No. 20 all-time in collegiate history. Additionally, Odeluga finished as the runner-up in the weight throw, recording a personal best of 21.23m (69-8), which currently ranks No. 7 in Division I and No. 7 in Ole Miss history.

On the men's side, Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan continued to dominate in the shot put, increasing his collegiate lead with a season-best throw of 20.51m (67-03.5. This performance currently leads the United States overall and ranks No. 2 in the world for 2025. Robinson-O'Hagan also excelled in the weight throw, winning with a throw of 22.47m (73-08.75) and maintaining his second-place ranking in Division I with a previous season-opening throw of 22.88m (75-00.75) from December.

Both athletes will look to continue their success as Ole Miss prepares for the upcoming Vanderbilt Invitational this weekend.

In other notable achievements, East Carolina track and field athletes Kelly Ufodiama and J Henry Lyon have been named American Athletic Conference Women’s and Men’s Track Athletes of the Week. Ufodiama, a true freshman, made a stunning debut at the Clemson Invitational, breaking program records with times of 7.26 seconds in the 60m and 22.99 seconds in the 200m, ranking first in the NCAA for the 200m and third for the 60m. Senior J Henry Lyon equaled a decade-old program record in the mile with a time of 48.09, winning the event and ranking 56th in the NCAA.

The Pirates are set to compete next at North Carolina’s Dick Taylor Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
