احتفظ المنتخب القطري بذهبية كرة اليد في دورة الألعاب الآسيوية، للمرة الثالثة تواليًا، بعد تغلبه في المباراة النهائية على نظيره البحريني (32-25).
وكان العنابي قد كرر تفوقه على الأحمر البحريني في النسخة الماضية، كما أحرز أيضًا ذهبية آسياد إينتشيون 2014.
وبهذه الميدالية، رفعت قطر رصيدها إلى 14 ميدالية بواقع 5 ذهبيات، و6 فضيات، و3 برونزيات، فيما أضافت البحرين ميدالية جديدة عزّزت من خلالها صدارتها للدول العربية بـ 17 ميدالية بواقع 10 ذهبيات، وفضيتين، و5 برونزيات.
