Remo Stars Lead NPFL Ahead of Mid-Season Break

Remo Stars have secured the top spot in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) as the league heads into its mid-season break. On Sunday, Remo Stars defeated Akwa United 2-1 in Ikenne, thanks to a crucial 82nd-minute free-kick by Tochukwu Micheal. This win has given Remo Stars a three-point lead over Rivers United, who must now beat Plateau United by at least a four-goal margin to overtake them.

In other matches, Shooting Stars continued their impressive form by beating reigning champions Rangers International 1-0 away from home, a feat they had not achieved in over 20 years. Ikouwem Udo Utin scored the only goal of the match in the 28th minute, helping Shooting Stars rise to third in the league table.

Ikorodu City secured a 2-1 win over Sunshine Stars in the southwest derby, with Rivio Ayemwenre scoring a late penalty to seal the victory. El-Kanemi Warriors also won 1-0 against Kano Pillars in Maiduguri.

The league will now go on a three-week mid-season break after the completion of match-day 19 games.
