Woods undergoes back surgery to 'alleviate pain'

The 15-time major champion Tiger Woods underwent more back surgery following a season marred by injuries.
The X statement stated that Woods "underwent microdepression surgery of the lumbar spine for nerve impingement in the lower back" on Friday morning and that the surgeon "deemed to be successful" the Florida procedure.
The 48-year-old American stated he was hoping it would "alleviate back spasms and pain" he had been having this year. He last competed at The Open in Troon in July and missed the cut.
