'The Valhalla nail-biter that had everything'

At the end of a challenging week for the event, Xander Schauffele's exciting breakthrough PGA triumph against Bryson DeChambeau painted major golf in the best possible light.

This nail-biting match at Valhalla had it all; it demonstrated that Schauffele is capable of competing at the greatest level, and DeChambeau served as a reminder that he is a special, endearing, and eccentric talent that should be appreciated.

And Viktor Hovland, who finished in third place, showed how quickly luck may turn in one's favor. The Norwegian walked onto the 72nd green, experiencing for the first time the heat of having a chance to win a major, capping a week in which he had contemplated quitting due to form problems.
