Schauffele wins first major at US PGA Championship

On an exciting final day of the US PGA Championship, Xander Schauffele won his maiden major with a record score after holeing a nerve-wracking six-foot birdie putt at the 18th hole.

At Valhalla, Kentucky, the American defeated the charging Bryson DeChambeau and Viktor Hovland to win on 21 under, the lowest total in a major by a single shot.

The 30-year-old Californian fired 62 in the first round to tie the major record for the best round at a major and went on to lead the competition. He won the Wanamaker Trophy by one stroke with a six-under 65 total.
