A blue card will be introduced in football.

The Council of the International Football Association (IFA, which defines the rules of the game, wishes to add a “blue card” which will be applied in 2 cases: faults which stop the promise of attacks or games which enter into conflict with arbitration.

The player who receives this card will be absent from the field for 10 minutes. 2 blues result in expulsion as does the combination of a yellow and a blue.

The tests will start in lower caliber leagues, but from next season they will be able to reach elite competitions in Europe.

Aleksander Ceferin, president of UEFA, is completely opposed to this idea and declared that "this is no longer football". However, if this practice is implemented in the regulations, competitions promoted by UEFA should comply with it.
