Liverpool miss out on 2025 Club World Cup spot

Fifa has confirmed the requirements for qualifying for the expanded 2025 Club World Cup, which means that Liverpool will not be receiving a spot in the competition or a possible windfall of approximately Ā£50 million.

The governing body made the decision back in March that no more than two teams from each nation would be assured a spot in the contentious 32-team competition, which is scheduled to take place in the US from June 15 to July 13. It has now been confirmed that the only Premier League teams who are guaranteed to participate are Manchester City and Chelsea. In a 12-strong European contingent, Arsenal would be England's third representative if they were to win the Champions League this season.
