Suwon FC Terminates Son Jun-ho's Contract Amid scandal

South Korean club Suwon FC has mutually agreed to terminate the contract of international midfielder Son Jun-ho, who was suspended for life by the Chinese Football Association over alleged match-fixing and betting activities. Sporting director Choi Soon-ho expressed regret for any distress caused to fans and emphasized that the decision was made following Son's concerns for the club and its supporters. Son, accused alongside 42 others of accepting bribes, tearfully proclaimed his innocence, alleging coercion in China, where he had been detained for ten months before returning to South Korea in March 2024.
