Sable betters own meet record,

On the third day of the 63rd Inter-State Athletics Championships here on Saturday, Avinash Sable won the 3000m steeplechase with relative ease, despite being well behind the rest of the field.

The national record holder, who has already met the Olympic qualifying standard for Paris, broke his own meet record of 8:33.19 seconds, which he achieved in Lucknow five years prior. He now has a time of 8:31.75 seconds. He had also not competed in the Inter-State meet since that time. Sable was happy with his performance despite the slow race, claiming to have only run between 75 and 80 percent.
