Economics wins Irish Champions Stakes

With a neck victory over Aidan O'Brien's Auguste Rodin, Economics proved why he was the clear favorite in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown. This is Ireland's most prestigious flat race.
Despite this being William Haggas's first Group One event, he was the clear favourite to win the main race on the first day of the Irish Champions Festival.
Economics looked like a serious Derby contender after winning the Dante Stakes in May, but he was unable to participate in the Epsom Derby, and his win in the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano at Deauville last month was his first race in ninety-one days.
