Tomljanovic and Saville advance to WTA quarterfinals, while Tien upsets Zverev in Acapulco.

Ajla Tomljanovic and Daria Saville have both advanced to the quarterfinals of their respective WTA tournaments, marking a significant achievement for Australian women`s tennis. Tomljanovic showcased her resilience with a comeback victory over Britain`s Jodie Burrage, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, and has seen her ranking rise to world No. 103. A win in her next match could see her return to the top 100.

Saville also made headlines by reaching her first tour-level quarterfinal since last year, defeating Ukrainians Marta Kostyuk and Anhelina Kalinina in Merida. Her victory over Kostyuk was particularly notable as it marked her first top-20 win in three years.

In Austin, Japanese qualifier Ena Shibahara edged out Australian Kimberly Birrell in a tightly contested match, setting up a quarterfinal clash with Tomljanovic.

On the men`s side, 19-year-old Learner Tien stunned the tennis world by defeating world No. 2 Alexander Zverev 6-3, 6-4 at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel in Acapulco. Tien`s victory makes him the youngest American man to beat a top-three opponent since Andy Roddick in 2001. Belgian David Goffin also caused an upset by defeating fifth seed Ben Shelton. Canadian Denis Shapovalov extended his winning streak to seven matches with a victory over Alex Michelsen.
