Maryland`s Queen Shines in Comeback Win Over Minnesota

Maryland Terrapins showcased resilience in their recent matchup against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, securing a 77-71 victory. Despite facing a challenging environment, including a half-empty Xfinity Center and a daunting upcoming schedule, the Terrapins managed to overcome a sluggish start and multiple scoring droughts.

The game saw Maryland trailing for most of the first half, allowing Minnesota to build an 11-0 run. However, the Terrapins only found themselves down by three points at halftime. After the break, Maryland struggled initially but gradually shifted the momentum in their favor. Freshman center Derik Queen emerged as a standout performer, scoring 18 of his career-high 27 points in the second half.

Supporting Queen, sophomore guard Rodney Rice contributed 21 points, while junior point guard Ja`Kobi Gillespie added 15 points to the scoreboard. Senior forward Julian Rice also made his presence felt with eight rebounds and two blocks. This victory improved Maryland's overall record to 13-4 and 3-3 in the Big Ten conference, placing them in ninth position in a highly competitive league.

As the Terrapins look ahead to their challenging schedule, they will need continued strong performances from key players like Queen and Gillespie to maintain their momentum and remain in contention for tournament play in March.
