Round 1 of the Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) competition showcased thrilling matches, with the Sunshine Coast Lightning delivering a commanding performance against the Melbourne Mavericks, winning 69-59. The Lightning`s strategic rotation of goalers proved effective, with Steph Fretwell starting at goal shooter and Reilley Batcheldor contributing 30 minutes at goal attack. The Mavericks faced challenges in the midcourt, resulting in 17 turnovers, although Sasha Glasgow made a notable return from injury.

In another exciting matchup, the Queensland Firebirds celebrated their first-ever Round 1 victory in Super Netball, edging past the Giants 62-57.
