日本羽球名将桃田贤斗即将退役，将在明年2月的日本羽球S/J联赛后正式告别赛场，结束其辉煌的球员生涯。现年30岁的桃田在2016年因非法赌博事件受罚，错过里约奥运。重回赛场后，他在2018至2019年连续两年夺得世锦赛冠军，达到巅峰。2020年遭遇严重车祸后状态下滑，最终无缘巴黎奥运。退役后，他将担任NTT东日本羽球队教练，继续为日本羽球培养新星。
